Prof Eric Bogatin, University of Colorado, Boulder:
Three Design Guidelines to reduce Switching Noise and Near Field Emissions in PCBs
Switching noise arises from transient currents passing though excess inductances, usually in the power and ground distribution paths. This causes reflection problems, cross talk and EMI. In this presentation, I will show the root cause of this problem and three examples using measurements from boards designed and built following good and bad design principles. Following just a few simple design guidelines, this problem can be dramatically reduced.
